Let's get it all done!

So many things in life are out of our control and yet we are expected to keep everything balanced. Everything from keeping our children alive, fed, and virtually schooled, to keeping our homes clean and tidy, then add in running a business too and having to nurture all the relationships we are a part of.

Having rock solid daily routines makes sure every aspect of our lives doesn’t fall through the cracks and we don’t burn out. What if you had your priorities mapped out from the moment your feet hit the floor? How would that change the mood and productivity of your day?

How? By literally blocking out specific times on specific days to really focus on a specific task. This is where Segmenting and Time Blocking come into play. It actually saves you time, energy, lessens anxiety, and gets everyone on the same page!

Segmenting & Time Blocking is simply devoting time to specific tasks at specific times.

Makes scheduling family time a breeze. Same with client time, church time, Me time, work time, errand time, housework time and so on. Sets expectations and organizes that long list of to-do's!

So what does this look like?

Here is an example. Blocking out 2 hours early on Monday mornings to batch create your posts for the week. You set it for a time when you won't have lots of interruptions. You can quickly and easily map out exactly what you want to post and when, have the graphics, captions, and hashtags ready to go. Heck, if you have the proper apps, and programs you can even pre-schedule them to post. One more thing off your list and mind for the week! Won't that be great!

When you sit down to work on a specific task, get in the habit of setting an actual timer.

This does a multitude of things.

  1. It limits your time on the tasks.

  2. It frees you to focus on the task and you won’t have to watch the clock.

  3. You have your day blocked out for specific tasks so there is focus.

  4. When the timer goes off, put that task away for today. Check your planner and move onto the next task.

Multi-Tasking is a myth.

I can hear you thinking or saying... But I have so much to do! I can't just do one thing. Yes you can. And you might even find when you do focus on little blocks of time and devote to that one specific task, you'll actually accomplish it faster!

Remove the concept of having to do multiple things at once from your mind and vocabulary. It actually hurts your brain. Humans are not wired to do multiple tasks at once. Even computers bog down if you have them do too much at once. So how do you accomplish all your to-do's and have-to's? The answer is Segmenting and Blocking your time!

You've Got This!

XOXO, Heather
